Sita who was the divine wife of Lord Rama, is one of the main characters of 'Ramayana', a Hindu epic . There is an epic behind the birth of Sita at Janakpur Dham in Mithila which was under the reign of King Janak.

Once, there was no rain fall in this region and people suffered a lot due to shortage of food. As the King sought advices from intellectuals and saints in the palace, they advised him to plough the land by his own hand to please God Indra and have his blessing. When King Janak was ploughing the field he heard a sound from the plough in the soil and found that the device (Hull) is not moving further. When he removed the soil around the plough and dug out a box, he found a beautiful female child lying there. He named her as ‘Sita’, brought up as his own daughter and she grew there as princess of Mithila.

We believe art becomes more meaningful when it creates an impact beyond the artwork itself. PaintzStories brings together emerging, independent, underrated and underrepresented artists, giving their creativity a platform and helping their stories reach wider audiences.
