Paintz Story

Marriage in the Mithila region is steeped in tradition and culture, with customs linked to its heritage and the Ramayana. Ms. Seema Nishant illustrates these rituals in her Madhubani paintings. One lively ritual is Dwar Chekai, where the bride’s family, usually her sister, playfully blocks the entrance to the wedding venue (Kohbar room), preventing the groom from entering until he meets certain playful demands or pays a fee. This fun ceremony symbolizes the bride’s family testing the groom's commitment and adds joy and bonding between the two families during the wedding festivities.
Art for All. Stories That Matter.

We believe art becomes more meaningful when it creates an impact beyond the artwork itself. PaintzStories brings together emerging, independent, underrated and underrepresented artists, giving their creativity a platform and helping their stories reach wider audiences. Every purchase you make helps us support more artists, celebrate diverse talent and make the world of art a little more inclusive.
