Paintz Story

Mr. Rajesh Kumar Mukhiya (family member of Padma Shri Ms. Dulari Devi) created this Madhubani/Mithila painting in which he attempted to represent a forest with a large lion, many other animals such as elephant, cow, buffalo, and several small birds, mainly peacocks. Trees, plants, and flowers abound throughout the area, giving the jungle a vibrant, natural appearance. It brings to mind a lovely poetry.

When you meet a peacock
In dancing moody
don't be angry,
Just be ready
to dance in its rhythm.

When you meet the lion sleeping
Pass silently in front of it.

(Poet: Alfonso II Chris)
